Breed rescues
Breed rescues look after and rehome unwanted pedigree animals and they are usually run by people who have an extensive knowledge of and interest in a specific breed of animal. They are non-profit making organisations. These services are offered by people that have a love for this particular breed of animal. They may ask for a donation when you adopt an animal, to go towards funding the rescue service. Most organisations do not have kennel facilities but instead rely on volunteer foster carers in the community to care for animals until they are placed in new homes. The volunteers help with training, settling, socialising and promoting the animals. Many rescue shelters will send animals to a rescue service. Below is a list of UK breed rescue organisations. If you can’t find the specific one you are looking for, try different categories, for example if you cant find a specific retriever breed, try searching for hunting dog rescue groups and large-dog rescue groups.
